The Elberton Granite Association, Inc. represents 142 stone related businesses located in a five county area in Northeast Georgia. The area contains 45 active quarries and more than 150 granite manufacturing plants. The majority of production is directed at the monument industry. However, some firms do produce street curbing, split face ashlar, pavers, counter tops, granite signs, turned columns and sculpture. While the dominant material produced is Elberton's own blue/gray, most firms maintain an inventory of colored stone both foreign and domestic. |
